Using Resource Management

Resource Management Overview

Resource Management is a feature of connectDaily that allows you to manage things like your facility, equipment and other Resources in your organization. While you do not have to use the Resource Management capabilities of connectDaily, there are some good benefits if you do:

• Prevent people from double booking a Resource.
• See at a glance when a Resource is available by using the Resource Planner View display.
• Provide notifications to others within your organization that a Resource is used.

Resource Conflicts

By default connectDaily does not allow you to overbook resources, creating a conflict. Users of the Corporate and Enterprise packs can set the option "Allow resource conflicts for unapproved events.". If this option is selected, AND there are approvers for resources, you can overbook those resources. Things to keep in mind:

• There must be approvers for the resource.
• The resource approval screen will show events that are in conflict.
• If you approve a resource that has conflicts then:
  
  Those resources are delete from the conflicting events.
  
  If the system uses event approvals, then events that have conflicting resources approved are marked as unapproved.

To change this setting, go to System | Configuration | Resources.

Tip
If you want to ensure Resources are used for each event, there is a system-wide setting in the resource configuration screen that can be set to warn Users if events are created without any Resources.

You can also create and specify an Item Style that will be assigned to events that do not have a Resource assigned to them.
