 ropped out of college and spent student loans to make our first record. I 
 ran away from my extremely dysfunctional home after a short stint at an ac
 claimed arts academy in Chicago\, which I left because I felt it was insan
 ely political and rife with an unnecessary drug culture\; I didn't fit in 
 and knew that the real world had more to offer. I home-schooled myself for
  my senior year of high school and convinced a bass playing landlord that 
 although I was only 17\, I would surely come up with the monthly rent for 
 a tiny-ass studio apartment in the city\, and he gave me a chance on mere

DESCRIPTION:Evan Griffith Dando formed The Lemonheads with two high school 
 buddies in late winter '86\, in their senior year at Boston's tiny Commonw
 ealth School. A few months later\, they spawned what is now one of the mos
 t sought-after punk relics of the 80s\, the indie EP Laughing All the Way 
 to the Cleaners. Boston-based Taang! Records immediately picked up on The 
 Lemonheads\, with three college radio pleasers to follow: the LPs Hate You
 r Friends (1987)\, Creator (1988)\, and Lick (1989). In 1990 Atlantic Reco
 rds took notice of the massively expanding Lemonheads fanbase in Europe (w
 here they toured in 1989) and America by signing the band and releasing th
 eir well-received (in Cambridge\, Massachusetts) fourth LP\, Lovey.\n\n -
