Michael Gira founded the seminal NYC band Swans in 1982. Quickly infamous for their punishing, brutal and repetitive onslaughts of sound, extreme volume levels, and the self-abusing, abject shouts and growls of Gira's sloganeering vocals, Swans gradually transformed over 15 years, ultimately venturing into harsh mechanical proto-industrial rock, to sprawling shifts of texture and perspective (see the bucolic atmospheric folk idles and martial stomps of their much heralded Children of God double LP from 1987), to gentle acoustic-based songs, and finally on to their ultimate statement, Soundtracks For The Blind (1997) which somehow incorporated all of these elements at once, across well over 2 hours of music in one album. At this point, Gira called it quits after 15 years of relentless touring and productivity, and disbanded Swans. Since 1999 Gira has released his music under the name Angels Of Light. He writes the songs for Angels Of Light on acoustic guitar and orchestrates them using a shifting cadre of musicians, employing a wide variety of instrumentation such as strings, wind, brass, electric guitars, electronics and choral vocals. The songs are often eccentric and extreme, in keeping with Gira's love of soundtrack music. Though nominally more traditional than Swans, Angels Of Light is often just as hard hitting through different means. The most recent album by Angels Of Light is We Are Him. When not recording, writing music, or touring, Gira spends his time producing and releasing music through his label Young God Records. He's been responsible for such notable talents as Devendra Banhart, Lisa Germano, Akron/Family, Larkin Grimm, and James Blackshaw. Recently, Gira decided to Re-activate Swans. Here's what he has to say about that decision at the YGR website: "About reconstituting Swans: ... there was a point a few years ago during a particular show when I was on tour with Angels Of Light, with Akron/Family serving as the backing band. It was during the song The Provider. Seth's guitar was sustaining one open chord (very loudly), rising to a peak, then crashing down again in a rhythm that could have been the equivalent of a deep and soulful act of copulation. The whole band swayed with this arc. Really was like riding waves of sound. I thought right then, "You know, Michael, Swans wasn't so bad after all..." .

For Brighton, UK born and bred yet very much the adopted Australian son singer songwriter Mike Rosenberg, being independent has proven to be the best road he could have taken. There was a time, back in the early 2000s, when things looked very different. There was a five-piece band called Passenger and the big money label behind it and there was a critically acclaimed debut album, Wicked Man’s Rest, but when the members of that band chose to go their own separate ways in 2007, Rosenberg opted to stick with the Passenger moniker and trust in his music, his voice and his guitar to take him where it would. He took to the streets and discovered not only that the experience enormous fun, but it also proved empowering for the likeable musical troubadour.

The Hornbuckle brothers opened for the Doobie Brothers at Red Rocks Amphitheater and this high profile gig opened the doors to open for The Allman Brothers, Ted Nugent, Joe Walsh, Gov’t Mule, Styx, Bad Company, ZZ Top, BB King and the list goes on.

In 2012 Universal Music Producer Alex “Ace” Baker had been co-writing songs for the record, but Brian was keystone to the records completion. “Virtue & Vice” was released December 2013 and was immediately embraced by their fans and was raved about as a soulful ride through the good, the bad and the ugly. Their music indeed delivers those immediate subtleties and nuances passed down by their father.

We last heard from Hilltop Hoods on 2012’s "Drinking From the Sun‟ an album that changed the game again, becoming the group’s 3rd consecutive #1 album and going Gold on the day of its release. It was then certified Platinum within just one week. They once again crossed over, taking one of the world’s biggest pop stars in SIA, and throwing her unique vocal stylings over their most successful single to date, the Triple Platinum "I Love It‟. They also struck a chord with some of their idols, working with Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, and The Roots’ Black Thought. Within a year the album reached Double Platinum with critical acclaim.

LEZ ZEPPELIN, the New York City-based all-girl band has gained worldwide critical acclaim for the musicianship, passion and gender-bending audacity they bring to the music of Led Zeppelin.

Founded in 2004 by New York guitarist, Steph Paynes, It wasn’t long before the group’s reputation for playing Zeppelin’s music with a kind of passion and force beyond anyone’s expectations began to attract major interest from press and industry. In June, 2005, Chuck Klosterman wrote an article for SPIN magazine that featured Lez Zeppelin as a leading protagonist in a trend of all-female hard rock “tribute” bands. He referred to the group “the most powerful all-female band in rock history” and described the rise of bands like Lez Zeppelin as a “kind of multilayered cultural phenomenon.” The fortunes and notoriety of the group surged after this and Lez Zeppelin became provocative subject for the news media across the world. Stories about the group appeared in the Times of London, whose journalist called the band “the best new band I’ve seen all year, no question;” Reuters and CNN.com, which ran a front page feature that called the group so “electrifying” they are “driving club audiences to a frenzy.” The group also appeared as part of a major feature on CBS Good Morning, which ran nation-wide, as well as on many other local TV news spots in New York (ABC, WB) and across the country.

The Aquabats are an American rock band formed in Orange County, California in 1994. The Aquabats' are comprised of singer and fearless leader The M.C. Bat Commander, Bass player and big man Crash McLarson, keyboardist and robot Jimmy the Robot, drummer and fitness guru Ricky Fitness and guitarist and spiritualist Eagle "Bones" Falconhawk. Easily identified by their silver helmets, black Zorro masks and matching blue costumes, The Aquabats claim to be crime-fighting superheroes and ‘seriously…the best band in the world.’ This theme serves as subject for much of the band's music and as part of their theatrical stage shows, which typically feature various stunts and fight scenes with costumed villains and monsters. Musically, The Aquabats have been able to navigate many styles but seem to be particular to the “rock n’ roll” style. They even dance while they play music. Incredible? You be the judge.

Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers made a needle’s-eye leap onto the national music circuit in 2012, bringing with them a refreshing sound, spirited stage show and wellspring of good vibes, along with a turntable and milk crates stocked with their favorite vintage vinyl for backstage sustenance.

Now, the San Francisco-based band and its striking front woman with a girl-next-door demeanor step out with Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers, a luminous, heartfelt patchwork of California folk-rock, brisk Americana and show-stopping soul, punctuated with fresh four-part harmonies, crisp rock guitar and Nicki’s soaring, nuanced vocals that some critics say remind them of Linda Ronstadt. The first record under the banner of the full band, Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers is very much a family album, featuring 11 new songs penned by the band members, arranged and produced by Nicki’s husband and the band’s musical director, Tim Bluhm, and recorded at the Bluhm’s Mission Bells studio in San Francisco.

Seeing Reverend Horton Heat live is a transformative experience.
Flames come off the guitars. Heat singes your skin. There’s nothing like the primal tribal rock & roll transfiguration of a Reverend Horton Heat show. Jim becomes a slicked-back 1950’s rock & roll shaman channeling Screamin’ Jay Hawkins through Buddy Holly, while Jimbo incinerates the Stand-Up Bass like Jerry Lee Lewis on steroids. And then there are the “Heatettes”. Those foxy rockabilly chicks dressed in poodle-skirts and cowboy boots dreamily dancing the night away. It’s like being magically transported into a Teen Exploitation picture from the 1950’s that’s currently taking place in the future.

It's no stretch to say that The Meters single handedly definedNew Orleansfunk. Performing and recording their own music throughout the latter half of the '60s and into the '70s, this seminal group laid the foundation for what is now a ubiquitous genre, influencing countless funk musicians with their earthy, down-home style. Tracks like "Cissy Strut," "Look-Ka Py Py," "Sophisticated Sissy," and "Chicken Strut" are staples of the funk genre, and the band's work backing artists like Dr. John, Robert Palmer, Lee Dorsey, and even Paul McCartney is instantly recognizable. The Meters' sound also provided a jumping off point for much of the hip-hop of the '80s and '90s, with rap luminaries like LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Run DMC, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, and more sampling the band's tracks.

Now George has created his own label, The C Kunspyruhzy that will release George's first studio album in ten years, followed by solo recordings by individual members of the P-Funk empire. Clinton also plans to release a collection of Parliament-Funkadelic, and P-Funk All Stars live recordings gleaned from board tapes. Called the Uncut Funk Series, the live CD's will incorporate some of the best shows over the past thirty years and will be augmented with superior graphics and extensive liner notes. "We got four generations of fans out there who keep bugging me to get these live shows out there, and now's the time," George says. "I've seen what the Grateful Dead have been doing with their archives, as well as bands like Pearl Jam, and I figured it was time to show the world what the funk is all about."

This Must be the Band is extremely happy to play Talking Heads music night after night because the music is just that much fun. Not only has the lead singer (Charlie Otto) been called “the illegitimate son of David Byrne,” but the band boasts its very own Tina Weymouth (Jamie Jay), Bernie Worrell (Matt Gunsaulus),AdrianBelew (Otto), and Ednah Holt (Kasey Foster).

Cloud Cult is an experimental chamber rock band from the Midwest who has maintained a decade and a half career by remaining completely independent. They’ve sold more than 100,000 albums via their own label, Earthology Records, which was created by lead singer/songwriter Craig Minowa in the late 90’s out of what he called “necessity,” due to the fact that there simply weren’t options for environmentally friendly CD manufacturing in the industry at that time. Cloud Cult was at the forefront of the “green” movement, helping co-develop the now wildly popular recycled paperboard CD cases while also creating models for zero net greenhouse gas production for touring bands.

It's been 40 years since a trio of young cousins left Fort Payne, Alabama, to spend the summer playing in a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina bar called The Bowery. It took Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook six long years of tip jars and word of mouth to earn the major label deal they'd been dreaming of, but then seemingly no time at all to change the face of country music. ALABAMA is the band that changed everything. They reeled off 21 straight #1 singles, a record that will probably never be equaled in any genre. They brought youthful energy, sex appeal and a rocking edge that broadened country's audience and opened the door to self-contained bands from then on, and they undertook a journey that led, 73 million albums later, to the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Bowery was a chance to get established outside their home turf, where they'd played a nearby theme park, opening for national acts like Bobby Bare. The band was revolutionary in more than one sense.

YACHT is a conceptual pop group based in Los Angeles, California. It’s the brainchild of Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans, whose wide-ranging interests and deep-seated ADD cause YACHT to frequently metamorphose: from band to belief system, from disco infiltrators to punk rockers, from performance artists to graphic designers, publishers, sculptors, or philosophers.

Once again, the Denver Area Council is honored to be chosen to hold our annual Golf Classic at the exclusive Sanctuary Golf Course! Last year, this tournament raised over $100,000 for our camp programs and the attendees had a great time in the process!

In 2013, over 15,000 youth participated in the exciting Scout programs at Camp Tahosa and Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch. Camp can be one of the most memorable and positive experiences for a youth and thanks to our generous supporters, we are able to provide a high quality camping experience for a very reduced price, thus providing all youth with an opportunity to attend camp.
