More than four decades since CSN first harmonized in Laurel Canyon, and played its first-ever concert as a trio at the legendary Woodstock festival, its members continue a creative partnership that is one of the most influential and enduring in music. David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash have each been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two times—with Crosby, Stills & Nash, and a second time with The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Hollies, respectively. They are also in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, honored both for CSN as a group, and as individual solo artists.

Gardens & Villa is the project of five college friends from Santa Barbara, formed following the collapse of a noisier post-punk band and a hitch-hiking journey up the west coast. Members Chris Lynch, Adam Rasmussen, Levi Hayden, Shane McKillop began playing in earnest as Gardens & Villa in 2008. The name is pulled from the location of their house on Villa Street, and the property's lovely garden to which they tend. The music they make is very much connected to coastal city they call home -- the stoney bike rides, dance parties, a scene free of judgment. The band refers to this Santa Barbara feeling as "coco vibes." For two weeks in the summer of 2010, the band camped behind visionary and now-labelmate Richard Swift's Oregon studio. No shower, no kitchen, but all the magic you could ask for. After taking a band oath to always play all parts live -- a la Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense -- the band added member Dusty Ineman to supremely execute the live incarnation of the band.

Sweden's Lykke Li can't stay still. Her life and her career are relentlessly pulled forward by an impatient desire to see what's just around the corner, her music full of ideas about moving on and breaking free. Just eighteen months ago, she was complaining to her mentor, Bjorn "of Peter and John fame" Yttling, that everything had gone wrong because she was twenty and still hadn't released an album. Now twenty-two, she's finding that things are on track: With the release of her debut album in Sweden through her own label, LL Recordings, in January of this year, she's been surprised and maybe a little embarrassed to find that the world is falling at her feet. She's just the kind of person people can't help falling in love with. The album, entitled Youth Novels, is now scheduled for a well-deserved US release on August 19th via her own label, LL Recordings.

On July 30th, Fruition will release Just One of Them Nights, an album that finds the band tackling the many struggles and successes that come along with living a vagabond lifestyle and the search for artistic clarity.

The collaborative rotating door of personalities that makes up Hercules and Love Affair has always been abroad church. Ringmaster Andy Butler says he has only one consideration when assembling a new line-upfor a pristine phase of his epic musical journey through the dynamics of past, present and future night-life.“The key to the Hercules project is that I don’t want people coming to the table with nothing to say.”

The new Hercules cast is impeccable. John Grant was first into the fold and unearthed a new way for Andy
to record. His sexy tomcat voice and lyrical ability for translating hardship into elegance lent themselves
greatly to the new album and the collaboration ʻI Try To Talk To Youʼ is an album highlight, future single and
uniquely Hercules.. Another tremendous voice was found in the chameleon Rouge Mary, backstage at a
Hercules show in Paris, looking “like a member of Fields of the Nephilim” in a floor length trenchcoat, wide-
brimmed hat and heels. Rouge showcases a deep, fierce, spiritual voice found through a gospel education,
with a look found through a degree in New Romanticism. Similarly Andy encountered Belgian singer Gustaph at a live gig. He has that perfect mezzo soprano voice that can handle a whole Sylvester vibe. On the first EP from the new album, Gustav heralds the acid pop house masterpiece, ‘Do You Feel The Same?’. And rounding out the vocalists is the smoky voiced virtuoso Krystle Warren. John Grant had introduced Andy to Krystle’s voice on a Youtube clip of her singing her own immortal heartbreak classic ‘Circles’. Tears ensued, with an inquiry as to who this crooner was. In Andy's words, “Two months later Krystle was in Vienna and we were working together in what has been one of the most loaded musical relationships of my life.”

Formed in 2008, saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli (classically trained with a master’s degree in jazz from the Manhattan School of Music) and drummer Jeremy Salken interpret traditional DJbased music with live instruments and have successfully created an innovative, distinct sound that’s all their own. Their transcendent live shows are a showcase of brilliant improvisation and a tightly knit bond between Salken and Lalli, who breathlessly alternates between keys, sax and laptop, building a futuristic wall of sound that keeps the crowd on its feet. The duo leaves no genre off-limits as they channel everything from funk and dubstep to house and hip-hop. THE SEGALL HAS LANDED. And it’s fully loaded with everything that Ty Segall (and you and me) are gonna need in the world to come. Sticking his hand deeper into the machines all around him, Ty is reaching ever further to the outer limits of inner space orbited throughout Twins and Sleeper. And now more than ever, the chunks of the world that came before are like asteroids formed in his image, picking up speed. Still fighting the power with all the energy that a determined mind-patriot can conjure, Ty’s a fighter who loves, a surfer, a spaceman, and yeah, a casualty – like you, he’ll never be free. But unlike you, he knows it – and when he goes down and his head cracks in two, out pour the multi-colored manias that make up Manipulator. Sour-sweet declarations featuring freaks and creeps alike: “The Singer,” “The Faker,” “Mister Main,” “Susie Thumb,” the “Connection Man,” and “The Crawler,” to name but a mutant fistful.

Are you feeling helpless and concerned watching events unfold in Ferguson and the Middle East? Do you feel worried about another Columbine or Aurora Theater tragedy happening again? And worried such an event might happen right here in our community?

It is scary, but you aren’t alone.

Feeling moved to action, a small group got together after the Newtown school shooting. A number of peace projects emerged from their work including an interactive peace conference to encourage discussion and solutions. If you want to be a part of the change as we work to move towards peace we hope you will join us.

You can make a difference. It’s time to come together as a community to learn more, create solutions and be the change. On September 27, from noon to 5, our community is coming together at Broomfield United Methodist Church to learn about “Becoming Peacemakers in a Violent World.” Topics include: Ethics of Peace and Protection: Strategies for Conversation, Youth Violence: Early Intervention and Turning the Page on Victimhood: Empowering Women. Featured speakers include Michael Baxter, Leandra Price, William Woodward, Rebekah Simon-Peter and Dr. Catharyn A. Baird.

The interactive conference is free (free childcare is also available) and we need your help and involvement. To register for the conference, visit http://bit.ly/bumcpeacemakers

Although formed during the late '90s, Interpol rose to international attention in 2002 as part of New York City's post-punk revival. The group took its cues from Joy Division and the Chameleons, fashioning a darkly atmospheric sound helmed by intricate guitars and Paul Banks' somber baritone. Interpol also had a striking visual presence marked by the members' fondness for suits, which only strengthened their stately, British-influenced appeal. Nevertheless, the band remained rooted in America, where guitarist Daniel Kessler and drummer Greg Drudy first struck up a musical partnership while attending New York University. Carlos Dengler, another NYU student who had previously played guitar, joined as the group's bassist - and by sheer coincidence, Kessler later bumped into Paul Banks, a guitarist/vocalist whom Kessler had spent time with in France. Having settled on an initial lineup, Interpol became a fully active band in 1998 and began issuing a series of 8-track recordings. After the band's first gigs in early 2000, Drudy vacated his position and was replaced by drummer Sam Fogarino.

Los Angeles indie electro unit Capital Cities first came together as a duo of composers/songwriters Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian. The two initially met on craigslist in 2008 and worked as jingle writers until they formed the band in 2010. They released an EP independently in 2011 that included the song "Safe and Sound," an upbeat mesh of programming and melody that went viral and gained the act a lot of Internet exposure. Eventually, Merchant and Simonian were joined by bassist Manny Quintero, trumpeter Spencer Ludwig, guitarist Nick Merwin, and drummer Channing Holmes. The fully realized live version of Capital Cities played festivals internationally. Their debut full-length In a Tidal Wave of Mystery appeared on Capitol Records / Lazy Hooks in June 2013.

Irish folk and Gaelic influences have always peppered the band’s songs and albums for years – not to mention their energetic live shows – but GHOST DRAGON fully embraces those traditional roots from start to finish, giving the Carbon Leaf fan who loves the band’s Celtic-influenced songs (“The Boxer”, ”Desperation Song”, “American Tale”, “Toy Soldiers”, “Home”…) a new, full-blown album of all-original Celtic folk, rock and instrumental dance tunes to celebrate and sink their teeth into.

British rock band The Kooks are a self-described "pop" band that draw inspiration from various sources to create their unique rock sound, borrowing equally from the 60s British invasion bands and the post-punk revival of the new millennium to craft uncompromisingly catchy songs. The band have achieved massive success globally since their breakthrough into the mainstream with debut album Inside In/Inside Out (2006), which achieved quadruple platinum status in the UK within a year and earned the band awards for Best UK & Ireland Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006 and a nomination at The Brit Awards for the single "She Moves in Her Own Way." Sophomore album Konk debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, selling 65 thousand copies in its first week alone.

The group, formed in 2004 by Kokal, Wayman and Lindberg, toured on The Fool for two and half years, solidifying the bond between the musicians over the course of numerous performances around the world. The new album represents Mozgawa’s first full collaboration with Warpaint since she jointed shortly before the band recorded The Fool in late 2009, something that augmented the experience this time for everyone involved. The initial work on Warpaint began at a house in Joshua Tree in March of 2012, where the four musicians decamped to write and demo early ideas for the new songs. There was no immediate vision or goal, instead the band wanted to create a meditative place in which to channel inspiration.

For nearly three decades, legendary saxophonist Karl Denson has been getting crowds around the world out on the dance floor. Approaching iconic status, Denson has moved bodies and minds dating back to his earliest years with Lenny Kravitz's band through his ongoing tenure as a founding member of seminal boogaloo revivalists The Greyboy Allstars and his current roll as a member of San Diego dub rockers Slightly Stoopid. Nowhere, however, is this more apparent than with his band, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. Touring relentlessly for the past 15 years and leaving a massive audience in his wake, fans know that when KDTU is in town a dance party will ensue.

Karl and his band are back on the road for a multi-city tour in support of their latest studio album, New Ammo, an infectious 13-track collection, and Denson’s debut release on Slightly Stoopid's record label, Stoopid Records. Alongside Denson originals like the title track and "Everybody Knows That," which have become fan favorites from his live sets, KDTU offers up searing versions of "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes, "Hang Me Up To Dry" by Cold War Kids and "Sure Shot" by The Beastie Boys. The first single "My Baby," features Nicki Bluhm on vocals.

In Denson's own words: "We’ve finally figured out how to capture in the studio what the Tiny Universe does live. We move around a lot musically, but this record reflects who we are as a band and where we’re headed with our music."

Rubblebucket is many things and nothing at all; it’s a mindset, a legend, a feeling, a mystery; a mischievous, playful, boundary-smashing blast of sound that you can sit still and wonder at, or turn off your mind and move wildly to. Or both at the same time. As Kalmia said, when she handed me one of her now-famous peanut butter, cheddar cheese, cabbage, honey tacos, “This is the weirdest, most delicious thing you will ever taste.” And if you won’t take it on my authority, take it on the authority of a small, but reputable publication called Rolling Stone, reporting from Bonnaroo: “Rubblebucket revved up like an indie-rock Miami Sound Machine, dancers, horns and all.” And if you won’t take it on Rolling Stone’s authority, cleave to the words of guitarist Ian: “Our music is like being at a raging party, but in the center of it, there’s this beautiful painting that you’re staring at, trying to wrap your mind around.” Or the words of our dad, Tim Traver: “Kids these days.”

Sonata Arctica was born in 1996 on the edge of the world, in the northern Finnish town of Kemi. The very first incarnation of the band was named Tricky Beans. As Tricky Beans, the group produced three demos (Friend till the End, Agre Pamppers and PeaceMaker) and played twice in Jyrki Sähkösirkus, a live tour version of a then famous TV pop show. After some personnel changes in 1997, the outfit changed their name to Tricky Means. Let it be known to the Metal community that initially the band experimented in musical styles far from heavy metal.Turning the page in 1999, Tricky Means recorded a new demo "FullMoon" in Tico Tico Studios located in their hometown, Kemi. At the time of recording the line-up consisted of: Tony (vocals/keys), Jani (guitars), Tommy (drums), and Janne (bass). This new demo was the first exploration for the band in heavy metal waters. The band's trademark sound of fast, melodic and keyboard oriented heavy metal with clear and high vocals was born. As fate would have it, and with help from Ahti Kortelainen of Tico Tico Studios, the "FullMoon" demo found its way to the premier metal label of Finland, Spinefarm.
