In commemoration of Rocky Mountain National Park’s centennial anniversary, the Colorado Music Festival joins creative forces with photographer John Fielder. Experience the majesty and grandeur of Fielder’s iconic nature photography as images from his Rocky Mountain National Park and other Colorado collections are projected on screen above the orchestra. The photos are choreographed with two symphonic works inextricably linked to nature: Sibelius’ 5th Symphony and Beethoven’s 6th Symphony, “Pastoral.” Whether Fielder’s spectacular images provide the music with new meaning or Beethoven inspires you to see nature in a new way, this is a program that you don’t want to miss.

While legions of artists show fidelity to psychedelia’s roots, Unknown Mortal Orchestra has always shared the rare quality that makes the genre’s legends vital, a constant need for exploration. Last year, frontman and multi-instrumentalist Ruban Nielson descended into his home studio in a Portland basement to chart out where’s he traveled since his last set of unhinged psych-soul ballads. He discovered that the best way for him to move forward would be to look back. Where Nielson addressed the pain of being alone on II, Multi-Love takes on the complications of being together.

Join classical musicians Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo for a unique and hilarious theatrical show combining comedy with classical music and popular culture. The concert begins with music which is sublime, but then the madness starts: the pianist loses his hand, the violinist, while tuning, falls asleep and later wakes up in the middle of a motorway. The violinist loses his bow to a vacuum cleaner while his partner talks on the phone, reads a paper, and plays the piano upside down—all at the same time. Enjoy the music and antics as these and many other “nightmares” unfold before your eyes—and ears.
