Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and calling Colorado home, Gregory Alan Isakov has been traveling all his life. Songs that hone a masterful quality beyond his years tell a story of miles and landscapes, and the search for a sense of place. Music has been a stabilizing and constant force. “I’ve always had this sense about music and writing that I sort of have to do it. Like I’ll implode without it. I probably wouldn’t do it if I felt any other way.”

“I think dubstep has become so huge because it’s a complete bastardization of electronic music,” exclaims rapidly emerging young producer and artist DATSIK. “There’s a little bit of everything thrown in the mix and dirtied up. There are pieces of hip-hop, the bass from electronic dance tracks and the roots ofU.K.garage and drum & bass…Dubstep is totally the punk rock of electronic music.”

Analog Son calls upon funkiest friends in debut album featuring the Shady Horns, Joe Tatton and more. After 17 years of musical camaraderie, Jordan Linit (Kinetix/Ableminds) and Josh Fairman (Kinetix) have created Analog Son. Based around a studio project involving The Shady Horns (Lettuce, Soulive), Joe Tatton (The New Mastersounds), Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk) and Joey Porter (The Motet/Juno What?!) as well as some of Denver’s finest local talent (members of The Congress, Fox Street All Stars, Kinetix, Rebel Tounge, Devon Parker, Convergence) Analog Son will released their self-titled debut in the spring of 2014. This funky brainchild was born at Scanhope Sound in fall 2013. While Josh and Jordan had conceptualized this project for years, much of the composition was impromptu as each guest musician brought their own unique brand of artistry to the table stirring up a sizzling musical melting pot. Their first single, “Analog Island” showcases the unmistakable articulation and harmony of Ryan Zoidis and Eric Bloom (The Shady Horns) as their melodies naturally integrate with Josh and Jordan’s rhythmic chemistry and vision to create a fresh funk-fusion project. The end result takes advantage of modern production and technology while using the finest vintage equipment and tape machines to fuse together both classic engineering and modern musicianship. This studio finesse translates effortlessly into the live setting. In their short existence, Analog Son has supported The Funky Meters, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, The New Mastersounds and Orgone at some of Colorado’s premiere venues. Live audio engineer, Joe Michaels (The Rolling Stones; Larry Graham; Blood, Sweat and Tears), immediately remarks on the authentic funk revival Linit and Fairman have managed to pull off. He states that “mixing these guys is like pure funk heaven….reminds me of my Larry Graham days!”Analog Son’s debut album will be available April 1, 2014 and the CD release party will take place at Cervantes’ Other Side on March 28 with special guests. Don’t miss your chance to catch “some funky, trippy jazz-funk from an awesome set of players.” - Joe Tatton

MisterWives – Mandy Lee (Vocals), Etienne Bowler (Drums), Will Hehir (Bass) – began making music together in late 2012. Lee, the powerhouse vocalist, was born and raised in Queens and acts as the band’s principal songwriter. She studied songwriting and opera at NYC’s only specialized public high school for music and performing arts, laying a foundation for her incredible range and giving her the ability to explore a wide variety of vocal styles. Lee met Hehir through a mutual friend and shortly thereafter was introduced to Bowler, a Bronx native, while the two were working at restaurants a block away from one another in Manhattan. The three shared a mutual love for music and similar aesthetic sensibilities and banded together to form the core of MisterWives. When it came to time to round out the live band, Bowler brought old friends Jesse Blum (Keys/Trumpet/Accordion) and Marc Campbell (Guitar) on board.

Their fresh multi-genre approach conjures up jazz, classical, and bluegrass, but above all, masterfully blends reggae and funk. When it came time for the Dodos to begin writing their fifth LP, Carrier, singer/guitarist Meric Long wanted to start over. The uncertainty of the band's trajectory as well as the passing of guitarist Chris Reimer brought about a reassessment of things within the band, and in particular Long's songwriting. In need of a different vantage point, Long began writing words before music for the first time, enveloping himself in silence rather than sound. When it came time to set these lyrics to music, Long started writing with only his electric guitar in hand — another first. The focus on this instrument was due in large part to the time Long spent with Reimer, the guitarist for Women who had joined Long and percussionist Logan Kroeber to become the third member of the Dodos throughout 2011 before unexpectedly passing away early the following year.
