With eloquent lyricism and compelling timing, composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart tastefully wove together beauty and brilliance in his impressive 600+ works. Masterpieces in this program include the haunting, introspective Adagio in B Minor, and delightfully witty variations on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Singer and songwriter Allen Stone describes himself as "a hippie with soul," and his music reflects both sides of this formula; his vocals and melodic style show the clear influence of classic soul and R&B of the 1960s and '70s, while his lyrics reveal an idealism and passion that recall the folk-inspired singer/songwriters of the same era.

The love child of Brooklyn and the Internet, Baauer was born out of noise. A sound that began steeped in the 4/4 dance tradition, slowly took on hip hop tendencies until the two became one. Influenced heavily by southern hip-hop and UK bass sounds, Baauer has found himself smack dab in the middle of the electronic renaissance. He is the delectable fusion of future-crunk and leather shaken aggressively in a bottle for years and has only just opened the top to pour the mixture out.

“There’s this great duality to our band,” reflects Greensky Bluegrass mandolinist, vocalist, and songwriter Paul Hoffman. “We’re existing in a few different places at once: we’re a bluegrass band and a rock band, we’re song-driven and interested in extended improvisation.”

“We play acoustic instruments,” adds dobro player Anders Beck, “but we put on a rock’n’roll show. We play in bigger clubs and theaters, there’s a killer light show, and we’re as loud as your favorite rock band. It’s not easy to make five acoustic instruments sound like this – it’s something we’ve spent years working on.”

A band whose name carries a certain "je ne sais quois," the Pimps of Joytime were born out of frontman Brian J’s desire to layer his broad range of musical influences -- soul, funk, afrobeat, Latin, reggae and rock -- within the freedom of an unapologetic dance groove. Since 2005, this Brooklyn based wildly infectious group has grown from playing basement parties down the street to headlining more than 100 shows each year, with stops along the festival circuit at Bonnaroo, High Sierra, Outside Lands, All Good, the VooDoo Experience and more. The Pimps' debut record High Steppin' dropped in 2008 on Wonderwheel Recordings to critical acclaim from the likes of NPR and BBC, followed by their sophomore release Janxta Funk! in 2011. Currently writing and recording tracks for their third album (anticipated for spring 2014), the forthcoming release will be their most inspired, distinct studio effort to date. Both in studio and on the road, the Pimps of Joytime are not to be missed. When they come to town, make sure to bring your favorite dance shoes and a dry towel to wipe your brow, because they know how to make you shake it and sweat all over.

While their frenetic live show remains a key element of the J. Roddy experience, Walston is careful to keep his songwriting process separate from touring. “I think it’s dangerous to write songs when you’re on the road, since you’re so out of touch with the normal, natural human condition,” he says. So before developing songs for Essential Tremors, Walston waited until he’d settled into the home he’d purchased in his newly adopted city ofRichmond,Virginia. “I’ve sort of drifted back down South again,” says Walston, who names classic Southern writers like William Faulkner and Flannery O’Connor as major influences on his own writing. “I don’t think our band or our music is particularly Southern, but our sense of storytelling and use of language is very much aligned with a more Southern way of life.”

If you were to dissect the alternative rock dominating todays music, youll find that much of it payshomage to The Psychedelic Furs. Led by vocalist and songwriter Richard Butler, and his bass-wieldingbrother Tim, the Furs won over fans and critics alike by combining poetic lyrics, innovative rhythms andmelodies driven by an aggressive, punk desperation. Through it all, the band scored major hits with"Love My Way," "Pretty In Pink," "Heaven," "The Ghost In You," and Heartbreak Beat in all releasingseven studio albums and spawning several compilations, a boxed set, and a live concert DVD.

OMAHA DINER is many things: the world's definitive virtuoso of the seven-string guitar, the pioneer of saxophonics, a recipient of the 2012 Guggenheim Fellowship for composition, and a Grammy nominee. Omaha Diner is at home in all situations in and beyond the world of music - not only scoring one of the films of legendary director Robert Altman, but performing in another one as well.

Sitting in a diner in Omaha, Nebraska in 1954, Todd Storz noticed that a teen-age waitress selected the same song on the jukebox over and over. At that moment, Top 40 radio was born, joining the TV dinner, the Reuben sandwich, the bobby pin, the ski lift, and (some claim) fuzzy dice on the list of famous and infamous inventions from the city that sits atop the Strategic Air Command.

Jordan Kelley and Jason Huber take their fun very, very seriously. The pair behind the ambitious and emphatic Nashville duo Cherub craft hooky electro-pop that lyrically captures the risque, pleasure-seeking impulses of their youth, while their studio expertise results in grooves so alluring, even your parents can dance to them. Which is their exact goal on Antipasto EP, the precursor to their highly anticipated Year of the Caprese debut LP.

For more than a decade DeVotchKa has been melting its sweeping influences into an authentic and totally original blend of rock ‘n roll. DeVotchKa’s first big break happened when KCRW introduced LA listeners to DeVotchKa on Morning Becomes Eclectic. The directors of “Little Miss Sunshine” happened to be listening this fateful day, loved what they heard, and hired the band to write the score for their film. A critical and box office smash, the film was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar and, for DeVotchKa's soundtrack, a Grammy. The little band from Denver was suddenly known all across the nation, playing large venues and major music festivals, including Coachella, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury. The love spread to Europe, which has become a yearly destination for the band.

Digitalism is a German electro duo, founded in 2004 in Hamburg, consisting of Jens “Jence” Moelle and Ismail “Isi” Tüfekçi. Jens likens Digitalism’s songs to simple chapters in a complex novel about social interaction and attraction, with distorted baselines and thumping rhythms comprising the punctuation. Digitalism is pioneering the electro-punk and indie dance movements, making appearances at festivals such as Coachella and various clubs worldwide.

Adrian Belew (born Robert Steven Belew, December 23, 1949, in Covington, Kentucky) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He is perhaps best known for his work as a member of the progressive rock group King Crimson (which he has fronted since 1981) and for his unusual impressionistic approach to guitar playing (involving arresting, yet frequently melodic sounds more akin to animals and machines than to standard instrumental tones).

Widely recognized as an “incredibly versatile player”, Belew has released nearly twenty solo albums for Island Records and Atlantic Records which blend Beatles-inspired pop-rock with more experimental fare. His 2005 single “Beat Box Guitar” was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category. In addition to being a member of King Crimson, he is also in the more straightforward pop band The Bears and fronted his own band, “Gaga”, in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He has worked extensively as a session and touring musician, most famously with Talking Heads, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, and Nine Inch Nails.
